Just like any other child, a child with Autism will want to get adult's attention. As parents we will want to teach our child acceptable ways to get our attention. Then they will be able to use those behaviors to get other adults attention. Children with Autism already get our attention. The problem is they can often use loud or bizarre ways to get attention. The ideal would be getting our attention without having to resort to those things. Teaching them how to do this in a thoughtful manner is possible.
